Yearly Family Trip – St. Anne’s Feast

Since many years back, it’s being our yearly family trip to St. Anne’s Feast. Normally our family will went there a week before the actual day of the festival to avoid crowd. Last weekend we spent a night at my sister’s house located at Seberang Perai and the next day we met up with my aunties and uncles at St. Anne Church then we went to Penang together and it always being a practice to travel together.

The time we reached Seberang Perai it’s almost dinner time so we took a short rest and directly go and hunt for food. My sister brought us to a hawker street where we can enjoy some nice local food like lok-lok, fried noodle and so on… The hawker center is located at 1-69, Lebuh Kurau 5, Chai Leng Park, 13700 Perai, Penang.

When we reached the hawker street, we chose the second last lok-lok stall. There are a lot of choices for from the lok-lok stall and it’s different from the pasar malam lok-lok where you have to stand while you enjoying it. At this place, you just choose whatever you want and sit at the back of the stall to enjoy the lok-lok. They provided 8 different spicy sauces and a sweet sauce which suitable for small kids. We mix and match the sauce according to our own favorite. Besides the lok-lok, we also ordered some noodles from the other stall. They do serve the noodle at your table. The fried yee mee is SUPER nice!

After the dinner, we drove to Penang for the Bon Odori event and enjoy the fireworks show. It’s pretty jam while we are on the way heading to the venue and also the way back to Seberang Perai. The event is held at Esplanade. At the center of the field there is a big performance stage where we enjoy the traditional Japanese dance performances.

We heading back to Seberang Perai after the fireworks show and prepared to go to St. Anne Church early in the morning. The next morning, we woke up pretty early and have a quick breakfast at 7 Village on our way to St. Anne Church. St. Anne Church is the main church for the annual celebrations for St Anne’s feast which located at Bukit Mertajam.

We had seafood at Yen Seafood Restaurant as the last stop of the trip. This restaurant offered cheap and nice seafood. It marked a nice ending of the trip with having nice and tasty food. The whole meal only cost us around MYR140.00 for 6 adults and a kid which really worth the money we spent…
